I am trying to wear contact lenses. I wear glasses, and I really like them, but they have fancy designs on them, which = heavy! They leave dents! Also I am a road cyclist, and I exercise in other ways (sometimes-no, really, I do!) so I can't wear glasses while I do those things. That, plus the extra money in my HSA means I can buy something medical. Which contacts are.
So, I went and tried a pair and came home and did my best to wear them. My distance vision was 20/20 I was assured. Driving home Saturday night the license plate in front of me looked like it was on a cops episode, it was all blurred out. Nothing but frame and a white mess in the middle Really sort of unnerving to tell you the truth. Luckily I could see the road signs, two of each. Not a success.
I am now wearing dailies. This is complicated by my misshapen cornea, an astigmatism. So, I have them in and they're pretty good. They feel like they're there, and the one that's reshaping my eye, is somewhat uncomfortable, but only a little. This might work. Dailies are better for your eyes I think, although the environmental impact does make me worry a little.
